All required scholarship information must be postmarked by March 13, 2009.
- How are applicants selected to receive the scholarship?
All applications will be reviewed by NABA's scholarship panel. Scores will be based on neatness of applications, composition of essay, grade point average, financial need, and extracurricular activities. High scores from the initial process will be invited for an interview with the scholarship panel. The combined interview and application scores will determine scholarship recipients.
- What will happen during the interview?
The selected scholarship applicant will meet with a small panel and will be asked a series of thought provoking questions regarding goals, objectives, and views.
- How will I be notified if I am selected as a scholarship recipient?
All selected scholarship recipients will be notified by telephone and/or formal letter from the Scholarship committee by May 15, 2009. After notification, NABA will host a special event honoring all scholarship recipients. The actual monetary awards will be made when the scholarship recipient provides the Dallas/Fort Worth chapter with proof of full-time enrollment for the period(s) covered by the award.
- What if after I register for school, and I find out I have more than enough scholarships
and or grants to cover my tuition, required fees, room and board, and books? Can I use the
scholarship toward other items that will benefit me while going to school?
No. The scholarship is meant for individuals with a financial need, and can only be used for items such as tuition, required fees, room and board and books. If you find that you don't have a financial need relating to the above items, than we need to see that those funds go to a recipient who does have a need for the scholarship.
If you have any additional questions regarding NABA's scholarship or the scholarship process, please contact Kelvin Bryant (254) 498-7836.
