2nd Annual Business Community Awards Gala

To Our Members, Friends, and Guests,

One of my most proud moments thus far as President of NABA DFW was the sight of over 200 members, friends, and guests in attendance at the 2nd Annual Business Community Awards Gala co-hosted by NABA and the National Black MBA Association (NBMBAA) on November 10, 2007 at the Omni Park West. To all of those who did not attend the 2nd Annual Business Community Awards Gala, you missed seeing NABA DFW at one of its finest moments this year. Our thirteen table sponsors all left pleased and excited about both NABA and NBMBAA. Lady Mozan (from K-104’s morning show) did an excellent job. She was professional, personal, and funny all at the same time. The award winners were all very appreciative of being recognized and honored for things they do everyday. If you didn’t attend the Gala, you also missed the chance to "Cupid Shuffle" the night away with your fellow members and friends. If you did attend the Gala, I certainly hope you are following through on your promise to me at the Gala Planning Committee: LOOK and RAVE!!! Don’t forget our deal!

The BCAG has improved from last year’s event on so many levels. From the attendance, to the sponsorship, to the publicity this event received, NABA DFW has a lot to be proud of following BCAG. This event has helped to further solidify NABA DFW as one of the premier organizations in the Metroplex. As a result of the positive post-Gala traction, we have had many more individuals interested in membership and companies seeking corporate partnership relationships. If you know of anyone interested in membership or corporate partnership opportunities with NABA DFW, please contact us at naba_dfw@yahoo.com.

I sincerely thank the entire BCAG Planning Committee. This event took the full drive and commitment of a well organized committee. We started planning this event back in July. That is a lot of sacrifice and hard work for a sustained period of time. Please be sure to give the following people a big pat on the back as you see them at NABA and other events:

Carolyn Oladunjoye - NABA Malcolm Mayo - NBMBAA President
Tyra Junaid - NABA Bernadette Carroll - NBMBAA
Fa'Tisha Love - NABA Susan Bell - NBMBAA

Additionally, I must give a shout out to a couple of companies (and the individuals behind them) who were instrumental in pulling this event together:

  • Charlene Edwards with 4-Star Events, LLC. Charlene served as event planner for the Gala and did a wonderful job.  If anyone in the chapter is hosting a party, wedding, or any other event, I would consider contacting Charlene.  She can be reached at four_starevents@yahoo.com.
  • Jacquinette Murphy with Presence Communication.  Jacqui was charged with ensuring the Gala was properly publicized.  As a result of her work, several newspapers (including the Dallas Morning News!) covered this event.  If you have any public relations or marketing needs, please consider contacting Jacqui at presence_communications @yahoo.com.

Again, thanks to everyone who came out to support these two premier organizations and their missions. I am eagerly looking forward to next year’s event. For those who attended, we hope to see you back at the 3rd Annual BCAG. For those who missed it this year, please make plans to attend next year!!!

With warmest regards,

Sherrelle Evans, President
NABA DFW Chapter

P.S.  Also, take a look at the positive press NABA is generating this year.  Below is a link to a November 19th article from the Dallas Morning News.

Voice of Hope Ministries' Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner

NABA Members & Friends,

On behalf of the Community Service Committee, I would like to say THANK YOU to all who joined NABA in donating your time, food, and money to the 2007 Voice of Hope Ministries' Thanksgiving Outreach Dinner. Because of you, this year's event was a huge success! NABA boasted a total of 21 volunteers and collected enough food and monetary donations to help feed approximately 10 families. Again, thank you for your generosity and have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Nina C. Turner, Community Service Director
