Attention Members:
The 2008 Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program begins soon! This program will run every Saturday from January 2008 through April 2008 from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm (unless otherwise informed; exact dates will be communicated shortly). Please see below for more details.
*This program is open to all professional and student members*
New Participants:
If you wish to participate in VITA and this is your first time, you will need to complete the Link and Learn training module on the IRS website. You may copy and paste the following link as a shortcut: http://www.irs.gov/app/vita/index.jsp. There are several modules to choose from, but the Basic module is sufficient for our purposes.
IMPORTANT: After you complete the module, print the certification and bring it with you on your first day. You will not be eligible to prepare taxes without this IRS certification.
Returning Participants:
If you participated in VITA last year and received your certification, it is not necessary to complete the entire module again. The IRS has prepared "refresher" modules that include 2007 tax law changes. You may copy and paste the above link as a shortcut, and click on Returning Student course.
